Recommendation To Award Bld to Furnlsh, Plckup and
Dellver Parts for Detrolt Diesel Englnes, Bld # 2058.
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnlsh, pickup and dellver
parts for Detrolt Diesel englnes for the Transportation Depart-
ment at the unlt prlces bld excludlng sales tax.
Background
In response to Publlshed Notlces Invltlng Bids (publlshed Aprll
4,5, 1986) to furnish, plckup and dellver parts for Detroit Dle-
sel englnes for the penod May 1, 1986 thru Apr1l 30, 1987 In
accordance wlth City speclflcatlons, blds were received and
publlCly opened and read on Aprll 17, 1986.
Proposal forms were mal led to six vendors. The WMBE file dld not
contaln any firms In the dlesel engine parts buslness, therefore
blds were mal led to two minorlty buslness recrultment firms
(Chess & Assoclates & L.A. Mlnorlty Buslness Development Center).
Two proposals were received (nelther of the two bldders were WMBE
firms). Staff has evaluated both proposals and recommends that
the bid be Spllt, awardlng the bld as per the unlt price to the
lowest bldder per item.

Budgetary/FlnanC1al Impact
As the materials are drawn out of inventory they will be expensed
agalnst avallable approprlatlon authority in the Transportat1on
Department account number 41-600-657-000-422. For the penod
July 1, 1986 through Apr1l 30, 1987 appropr1at1on authority will
as set forth 1n the Fiscal Year 1986/87 Transportation Department
budget.
Recommendation
It 1S recommended that the award of Bid #2058 be Spl1t, award1ng
the 1tems lndlcated on the bld tabulation as per the unlt pr1ces-
bld excludlng tax, to Valley DetrOlt Diesel Alllson and Graham
Brake and Diesel.
