SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver Cast
and Ductile Iron Valves and Fittings, Bid Number 2148
INTRODUCTION
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver cast and
ductile iron valves and fittings for the Water Division, General
services Department at the specified unit prices plus applicable
sales tax and a one-year renewal option.
BACKGROUND
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published
September 28 and 29, 1987) to furnish and deliver cast and
ductile iron valves and fittings in accordance with City
specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and read
on October 13, 1987.
Proposal forms were mailed to twelve
vendors and notices were advertised in accordance with city
Charter and Municipal Code provisions.
Three proposals were
received as follows:

staff has evaluated the bids and finds that the low bid does meet
specifications and is below budget estimates.
BUDGETARY/FINANCIAL IMPACT
As the materials are drawn out of inventory, they will be
expensed against available FY 1987/88 appropriation authority in
the Water Division.
For the period July I, 1988, through
September 30, 1989, appropriation authority will be as set forth
in the FY 1988/89 and FY 1989/90 Water Division budget.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2148 be made to Taylor
Jett Company at specified unit prices plus tax and a one-year
renewal option, as the lowest and best bidder.
