SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver One
(1) six Yard capacity Vacuum Type street Sweeper! Bid

INTRODUCTION
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver one (1)
six yard capacity vacuum type street sweeper for the Solid Waste
Management Division, General Services Department in the total
amount of $74,538.29 including applicable sales tax.
BACKGROUND
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published
August 27 and 28, 1987) to furnish and deliver one (I) six yard
capacity vacuum type street sweeper in accordance with City
specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and read
on September 29, 1987.
Proposal forms were mailed to four
vendors and notices were advertised in accordance with city
Charter and Municipal Code provisions.
Two proposals were
received as follows:
Public Works, Inc.
$74,538.29
GSC, Inc.
$78,367.65
Staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets
specifications.

BUDGETARY/FINANCIAL IMPACT
Fiscal Year 1987/88 appropriation authority for this purchase
is in the Capital Improvement Program budget, General Government
program category, account number 27-710-441-000-912, "Refuse
Vehicle Replacement."
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2139 be made to Public
Works, Inc. in the total amount of $74,538.29 including tax, as
the lowest and best bidder.
