SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish All Labor and
Materials to Repair Metal Trash Containers, Bid Number
2149.
INTRODUCTION
This report concerns award of bid to furnish all labor and
materials to repair metal trash containers for the solid Waste
Management Division, General services Department at specified
unit prices.
BACKGROUND
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published
October 7 and 8, 1987) to furnish all labor and materials to
repair metal trash containers in accordance with city speci-
fications, bids were received and publicly opened and read on
October 27, 1987.
Proposal forms were mailed to eight vendors
and notices were advertised in accordance with City Charter and
Municipal Code provisions. One proposal was received as follows:

staff contacted the "no bid" vendors and determined that they did
not wish to repair containers on City premises with parts
provided by the City. Repairing containers on-site drastically
reduces cost to the city in terms of labor and materials. staff
has evaluated the bid received and finds that it meets City
specifications.
BUDGETARY/FINANCIAL IMPACT
Fiscal Year 1987/88 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the Solid Waste Management Division, General Services
Department, account number 27-500-441-000-426.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2149 be made to
container Repair Service at specified unit prices as the lowest
and best bidder.
