Books, PeriodIcals and Furniture, Bid #2070
IntroductIon
This report concerns award of bId for movIng of Main Library
books, periodicals and furnIture In the total amount of
$152,730.00, Including applIcable sales tax.
Background
In response to publIshed Notices InvitIng Bids (published July 4
and 5) to move Main Library books, perIodicals and furniture In
accordance with City specIfIcatIons, bids were received and
publicly opened and read on July 23, 1986. Proposal forms were
mailed to five vendors and notices were advertIsed in accordance
with City Charter and MunIcIpal Code provisions. Four proposals
were received as follows:
Action Moving Company Inc. $152,732.00
*The Movers, Inc. $165,000.00
Bekins Moving & Storage Co. $249,528.00
Ace World-WIde Moving & Storage Co. $262,504.25

The scope of the prOject is to: a) move all books, periodicals,
shelving, furniture out of the Main Library untIl the refurbIsh-
ing of the library has been completed; and b) return all books,
periodicals, shelving, furniture back Into the library In the
exact same order. Staff has studied the bIds and recommends that
the bid be awarded to the lowest bIdder, Action MovIng Co.
Budgetary/FinanCIal Impact
Fiscal Year 1986-87 approprIation authority for this purchase is
in the General Government Category of the Cities Capital Inprove-
ment Budget, LIbrary Department, account number 01-710-613-000-
922, "MaIn LIbrary Ceiling".
RecommendatIon
It is recommended that the award of BId #2070 be made to Action
Moving Company Inc. in the total amount of $152,730.00 including
tax, as the lowest and best bIdder.
