AIR, FUEL AND OIL FILTERS, BID #2068
SUBJECT:
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver air,
fuel and oil filters as requested by the Transportation
Department and Fleet Maintenance Division, General Services
Department in the total amount of $73,763.50, plus applicable
sales tax.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published June
26, 27, 1986) to furnish and deliver air, fuel and oil filters
for the period August 15, 1986 thru July 14, 1987, in accordance
with city specifications, bids were received and publicly opened
and read on July 15, 1986. proposal forms were mailed to vendors
and notices were advertised in accordance with city Charter and
Municipal Code provisions. The WMBE directory did not contain
any firms in the filter business, therefore, bids were mailed to
one minority business recruitment firm. Two proposals were
received as follows:

Mack Trucks

Bid consisted of air, fuel and oil filters of various sizes
utilized by the Transportation Department and Fleet Maintenance
Division, General services Department. Hausman Bus Sales is low
bidder and currently has the contract to supply filters to the
City.
BUdgetary/Financial Impact
As the materials are drawn out of inventory they will be expensed
against available FY 1986/1987 appropriation authority in the
Transportation Department and Fleet Maintenance Division, General
services Department. For the period July 1, 1987 thru July 14,
1987, funds will be as set forth in the Fiscal Year 1987/88
budget.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2068 be made to Hausman
Bus Sales in the total amount of $73,763.50, plus applicable tax,
as the lowest and best bidder.
