'- --~ PURCH:EOB:klc Council Meeting: 8/9/88 2-P5-oo3 AUG 9 1988 Santa Monica, California 20)- ccS TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: City Staff SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver One (1) New and Unused 1987 or Newer Gasoline Engine Van Ambulance, Bid #2180 INTRODUCTION This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver one (1) new and unused 1987 or newer gasoline engine van ambulance for the Fire Department in the total amount of $39,319.32, including applicable sales tax. BACKGROUND In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published June 14 and 15, 1988) to furnish and deliver one (1) new and unused 1987 or newer gasoline engine van ambulance in accordance with City specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and read on June 28, 1988. Proposal forms were mailed to nine vendors and notices were advertised in accordance with city Charter and Municipal Code provisions. AUG 91988 . . The lowest and best bid from stoner Ambulance Manufacturing Company meets or exceeds the specifications. A bid was submitted by West Coast Ambulance Sales ($37,376.00) which was non-responsive and, therefore, cannot be considered. The West Coast bid contained twelve unacceptable deviations to the specifications. BUDGETARY/FINANCIAL IMPACT Fiscal Year 1988/89 appropriation authority for this purchase is in the Fire Department, account number 01-310-313-000-806. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the award of Bid #2180 be made to stoner Ambulance ManUfacturing in the total amount of $39,319.32 including tax, as the lowest and best bidder.
