SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver
Auto, Truck and Bus Batteries, Bid #2095
Introduction
This report concerns the award of bid for auto, truck and bus
batteries for a one year period per specified unit prices, plus
applicable sales tax.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published Decem-
ber 23, 24, 1986) to furnish and deliver miscellaneous auto,
truck and bus batteries in accordance with City specifications
bids were received and publicly opened and read on January 8,
1987. Proposal forms were mailed to eleven vendors and notices
were advertised in accordance with City Charter and Municipal
Code provisions. six proposals were received as follows:

The items covered by this bid include various types/sizes of
auto, truck and bus batteries. These items will be stocked and
dispensed to various operating departments upon request.
BUdgetary/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1986/B7 appropriation for this purchase is in the
maintenance accounts of various departments. As the materials
are drawn out of inventory, they will be expensed against avail-
able FY 1986/87 appropriation authority. For the period July 1,
1987 thru January 31, 1988, appropriation authority will be as
set forth in the FY 1987/88 budget.
Recommendation
Staff has evaluated all of the bids based on the cost of an array
of auto, truck and bus batteries and finds Enterprise Battery
Warehouse to be the low bidder. Therefore, staff recommends that
the award of Bid #2095 be made to Enterprise Battery Warehouse at

specified unit prices and percentage discounts on items not list-
ed on the bid for a one year period, plus applicable sales tax,
as the lowest and best bidder.
