SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver
Cement Products, Bid Number 2145
INTRODUCTION
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver cement
products for a one-year period at specified unit prices, plus
applicable sales tax.
BACKGROUND
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published
November 20 and 23, 1987) to furnish and deliver cement products
in accordance with City specifications, bids were received and
publicly opened and read on December 8, 1987.
Proposal forms
were mailed to seven vendors and notices were advertised in
accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Two
proposals were received as follows:

staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets our
specifications and is lower than our current supplier.
BUDGETARY/FINANCIAL IMPACT
Fiscal Year 1987/88 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the maintenance accounts of various departments.
As the
materials are drawn out of inventory, they will be expensed
against available FY 1987/88 appropriation authority.
For the
period July 1, 1988, through November 30, 1988, appropriation
authority will be as set forth in the FY 1988/89 budget.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2145 be made to Paragon
Building Products at specified unit prices, plus applicable tax,
as the lowest and best bidder.
