SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver
Miscellaneous Electrical Supplies, Bid #2094
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid for miscellaneous electrical
supplies for a one year period per specified unit prices, plus
applicable sales tax.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published January
2, 3, 1987) to furnish and deliver miscellaneous electrical
supplies in accordance with city specifications, bids were
received and publicly opened and read on January l3, 1987. Pro-
posal forms were mailed to eleven vendors and notices were adver-
tised in accordance with city Charter and Municipal Code provi-
sions. Two proposals were received as follows:

The items covered by this bid include various types of electrical
supplies. These items will be stocked and dispensed to various
operating departments upon request.
BUdgetary/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1986/87 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the Maintenance accounts of various departments. As the
materials are drawn out of inventory they will be expensed
against available FY 1986/87. For the period July 1, 1987
through February 31, 1988, appropriation authority will be as set
forth in the FY 1987/88 budget.
Recommendation
staff has evaluated all the bids based on the cost of an array of
electrical supplies and finds Consolidated Electrical Distribu-
tors to be low bidder. Therefore staff recommends that the award
of Bid #2094 be made to Consolidated Electrical Distributors at
specified unit prices and percentage discount on items not listed
on the bid for a one year period, plus applicable sales tax, as
the lowest and best bidder.
