SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver One
80,000 GCW Tandem Drive Truck Tractor, Bid Number 2132
INTRODUCTION
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver one
80,000 GCW Tandem Drive Truck Tractor for the Solid Waste Manage-
ment Division, General Services Department in the total amount of
$60,678.38, including applicable sales tax.
BACKGROUND
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published
August 18 and 19, 1987) to furnish and deliver one 80 1000 GCW
Tandem
Drive
Truck
Tractor
in
accordance
with
City
specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and read
on September 1, 1987.
Proposal forms were mailed to eight
vendors and notices were advertised in accordance with City
Charter and Municipal Code provisions.
Three proposals were
received as follows:

Universal Mack Truck Inc.

staff has evaluated all bids and finds that each bid meets
specifications. The bid from Carmen ita Truck center is $7,322.00
below budget estimates.
BUDGETARY/FINANCIAL IMPACT
Fiscal Year 1987/88 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the General Government category of the Capital Improvement
Program Budget, account number 27-710-441-000-912 "Refuse Vehicle
Replacement. It
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2132 be made to Carmen-
ita Truck Center in the total amount of $60,678.38 including tax,
as the lowest and best bidder.
