Introduction
This report concerns award of bid for one (1) 29 yard side load-
ing refuse packer for the Waste Collection/Disposal Division,
General
Services
Department
in
the
total
amount
of
$84,107.31,including applicable sales tax.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published August
19, 20, 1986) to furnish and deliver one (1) 29 yard side load-
ing refuse packer in accordance with city specifications, bids
were received and publicly opened and read on September 9, 1986.
Proposal forms were mailed to six (6) vendors and notices were
advertised in accordance with Ci ty Charter and Municipal Code
provisions. Two proposals were received as follows:
Refuse Trucks Inc. $84,107.31
Fred Boerner Motor Co. - $86,440.98
staff has studied the bid and finds that the bid meets all
specifications and recommends that bid be awarded to Refuse
Trucks Inc.

BUdgetary/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1986/87 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the General Government Category of the Capital Improvement
Program Budget, account number 27-710-441-000-910, "Refuse Vehi-
cle Replacement Program".
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2074 be made to
Refuse Trucks, Inc., in the total amount of $84,107.31, including
applicable tax, as the lowest and best bidder.
