SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver One
(1) skidsteer Loader with Accessories, Bid Number 2129
INTRODUCTION
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver one (1)
skidsteer loader with accessories, for the Fleet Maintenance
Division, General Services Department in the total amount of
$37,990.68 including applicable sales tax.
BACKGROUND
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published
August 27 and 28, 1987) to furnish and deliver one (1) skid steer
loader with accessories, in accordance with city specifications,
bids were received and publicly opened and read on September 29,
1987. Proposal forms were mailed to three vendors and notices
were advertised in accordance with City Charter and Municipal
Code provisions. Three proposals were received as follows:
South Coast Bobcat
$37,990.68
$39,211.17
$40,280.00
Melroe Equipment company
Cook Tractor
staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets
specifications and is below budget estimates.

BUDGETARY/FINANCIAL IMPACT
Fiscal Year 1987/88 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the following divisions of the General Services Department:
1. Fleet Maintenance Division, account number 01-500-461-
000-806 ($10,000.00)
2.
Water Division,
($20,000.00)
account number 25-500-671-000-801
3. Pier Management Division, account number 30-500-625-
000-806 ($10,000.00).
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2129 be made to Melroe
Equipment Company in the total amount of $37,990.68 including
tax, as the lowest and best bidder.
