SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver One
(1) Medium Industrial Tractor Loader with 14 Foot
Backhoe, Bid Number 2131
INTRODUCTION
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver one (1)
medium Industrial Tractor Loader with 14 foot backhoe for the
Cemetery Division, General services Department in the total
amount of $32,569.83, including applicable sales tax.
BACKGROUND
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published August
18, 19, 1987) to furnish and deliver one (1) Medium Industrial
Tractor Loader with 14 foot Backhoe in accordance with city
specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and read
on September I, 1987.
Proposal forms were mailed to three
vendors and notices were advertised in accordance with city
Charter and Municipal Code provisions.
Two proposals were
received as follows:

$33,137.48
Melroe Equipment Co.
staff has evaluated both bids and finds that each meets
specifications.

BUDGETARY/FINANCIAL IMPACT
ee
Fiscal Year 1987/88 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the Cemetery Division, General Services Department, account
number 37-500-641-000-801 in the amount of $30,000.00.
Unappropriated funds are available in the amount of $2,570.00
in the Cemetery Operating Fund.
This additional appropriation
will not have a material effect on that fund. Therefore, staff
recommends that the city council appropriate $2,570.00 from
the Cemetery operating Fund to expenditure account number
37-500-641-000-801.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council award Bid #2131 to
So-cal Ford Tractor, Inc. in the total amount of $32,569.83
including tax, as the lowest and best bidder, and increase the
appropriation of account number 37-500-641-000-801 by $2,570.
