SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish Portable Welding
Services for the Water/Wastewater Division, Bid #2200
INTRODUCTION
This report concerns award of bid to furnish portable welding
services for the Water/Wastewater Division, General Services
Department, at a specified hourly labor rate for a one-year
period with two one-year renewal options.
BACKGROUND
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published
November 7 and 8, 1988) to furnish and deliver portable welding
service ln accordance with City specifications, bids were
received and publicly opened and read on November 29, 1988.
Proposal forms were mailed to six (6) vendors and notices were
advertised in accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code
provisions. Four proposals were received as follows:

staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets city
specification and is below the hourly rate paid by the city for
such services in FY 1986/87 - 1987/88.
BUDGETARY/FINANCIAL IMPACT
Fiscal Year 1988/89 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the Water/Wastewater Division, General Services Department,
account number 25-500-671-000-501.
For the period July, 1989,
through December, 1989, appropriation authority will be as set
forth in the FY 1989/90 budget.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2200 be made to Paul's
Welding at a specified hourly rate for a one-year period with two
one-year renewal options, as the lowest and best bidder.
