SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish Hot Asphalt
Concrete Paving Mixes, Bid #2179
INTRODUCTION
This report concerns award of bid to furnish hot asphalt concrete
paving mixes for the street Division, General Services Department
per specified unit prices, plus applicable sales tax.
BACKGROUND
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published June 14
and 15, 1988) to furnish hot asphalt concrete paving mixes in
accordance with City specifications, bids were received and
publicly opened and read on June 23, 1988. Proposal forms were
mailed to three vendors and notices were advertised in accordance
with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Two proposals
were received as follows:
INDUSTRIAL VERNON
ASPHALT PAVING
1. 7.5% asphalt binder and 9% aggregate $30.13 $30.70
2. 5.8% asphalt binder and 2% aggregate $28.00 $28.32
3. 7.5% asphalt binder and 7% aggregate $30.13 $30.78

staff has reviewed the low bid and finds that meets specifica-
tions.
BUDGETARY/FINANCIAL IMPACT
Fiscal Year 1988/89 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the streets Division, General Services Department, account
number 01-500-421-000-444.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2179 be made to
Industrial Asphalt per specified unit prices, plus tax, as the
lowest and best bidder.
