Recommendation To Award Bid For Assorted Lumber
Products For a One Year Period, Bid # 2084.
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver assorted
lumber products for a one year period at specified unit prices
plus applicable sales tax.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published Septem-
ber 15, 16, 1986) to furnish and deliver assorted lumber prod-
ucts in accordance with City specifications, bids were received
and publicly opened and read on September 30, 1986.
Proposal
forms were mailed to eight (8) vendors and notices were adver-
tised in accordance with city Charter and Municipal Code provi-
sions. Four proposals were received as follows:

The items covered by this bid include various sizes and grades of
plywood, masonite, drywall and standard/better grade lumber.
These items will be stocked and dispensed to various operating
departments upon request.
BUdgetary/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1986/87 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the maintenance accounts of various departments. As the
materials are drawn out of inventory they will be expensed
against available FY 1986/87 appropriation authority. For the
period July 1, 1987 thru October 28, 1987 appropriation authority
will be as set forth in the FY 1987/88 budget for the various
using departments.
Recommendation
Staff has evaluated all the bids based on the cost of an array of
lumber products and finds Southland Lumber is low bidder. There-
fore, staff recommends that award of Bid # 2084 be made to South-
land Lumber at the unit prices and percentage discount on items
not specified for a one year period, plus applicable sales tax,
as the lowest and best bidder.
