SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver Two
(2) New Four Door Sedans, for the Prevention
jEducation Division of the Fire Department, Bid 2091
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver two (2)
new four door sedans for the Prevention/Education Division, Fire
Department in the total amount of $22,833.60, including ap-
plicable sales tax and delivery.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published Novem-
ber 4,5, 1986) to furnish and deliver two (2) new four door se-
dans in accordance with city specifications, bids were received
and pUblicly opened and read on November 18, 1986.
Proposal
forms were mailed to nine (9) vendors and notices were advertised
in accordance with city Charter and Municipal Code Provisions.
Two proposals were received as follows:
BURCH FORD
$22,833.60
$23,385.26
SANTA MONICA FORD
A similar bid issued on September 9, 1986 was rejected due to the
receipt of only one bid in the amount of $22,963.52.
The item
was rebid in early November 1986 as noted above.
The low bid
from Santa Monica Ford meets City specifications.

Budgetary/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1986/87 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the Prevention/Education Division of the Fire Department, ac-
count number 01-310-314-000-806.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2091 be made to Santa
Monica Ford in the total amount of $22,833.60 including sales tax
and delivery, as the lowest and best bidder.
