SUBJECT: Recommendation to Provide Complete Landscape
Maintenance Services, Bid #2093
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid for Landscape Maintenance Ser-
vices for the Parks Division, Recreation and Parks Department in
the amount of $60}300.00 per year and the Parking Authority in
the amount of $11,400.00 per year for a one year period, includ-
ing two one year renewal options.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published March
17} 18, 1987) to provide complete Landscape Maintenance Services
in accordance with City specifications, bids were received and
publicly opened and read on April 9, 1987. Proposal forms were
mailed to twelve vendors and notices were advertised in ace or-
dance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Two pro-
posals were received as follows:
1. LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE SERVICES FOR NINETEEN (19) RECREATION
AND PARKS DEPARTMENT SITES:

PORSHIA ALEXANDER OF AMERICA INC. (WMBE) - $77,621.28/YEAR

AUTHORITY SITES:
CALIFORNIA LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE INC. - $11,400.00jYEAR
PORSHIA ALEXANDER OF AMERICA INC. (WMBE) - $26,143.68/YEAR
California Landscape Maintenance Inc. has been awarded the city.s
maintenance services contract for the past three years and has
successfully performed to City requirements. California Land-
scape Maintenance Inc. has several large accounts in the Santa
Monica area and therefore has the equipment and personnel working
in close proximity to the City of Santa Monica.
Budgetary/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1986/87 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the Parks Division of the Recreation and Parks Department,
account number 01-400-511-000-501, and in the Parking Authority,
General Services Department, account number 77-500-610-000-501-
For the period of July 1, 1987 thru April 30, 1988, appropriation
authority will be as set forth in the Fiscal Year 1987/88 budget
for the Parks Division, Recreation and Parks Department and the
parking Authority, General Services Department.
Recommendations
a). City Council:
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2093 be made to
California Landscape Maintenance Inc. in the amount of
$60,300.00jyear for the Parks Division, Recreation and Parks

one year options, as the lowest and best bidder.
b). Parking Authority:
It is recommended that the award of Bid t2093 be made to
California Landscape Maintenance Inc. in the amount of
$11,400.00jyear for the Parking Authority for a one year
period including two additional one year options, as the
lowest and best bidder.
