Supplement - Award of Contract for Water Main Replacement
Introduction
This report recommends the City Council reject all bids recieved for the Water
Main Replacement.
B~ckground
On June 25, 1980, the City Council continued discussion of Item 6-E-5. the
award of contract for water maln replacement, untll July 8, 1980, and requested
staff reVlew material presented by Councilmember Rhoden. In as much as a
thorough report, includlng a review of current llterature and laboratory testing
Of our own water for asbestos fibers, cannot be completed ln less than a month,
staff recommends all bids on the water main replacement be reJected. As the
results of the asbestos flber count wlll not be received for at least a month,
it would not be reasonable to expect bidders to stand by figures which would
by then be more than two months old. After the report is presented to Council
for a decislon on the material to be used, the project can be rebid.
Recommendation
It is recommended the Clty Council reject all bids opened April 25, 1980, for
the water main replacement contract.
