SubJect. Award of Bld for the Water Maln Replacement
Introduction
This report requests the City Council to award a contract for water maIn
construction to Flve States Plumbing Company in the amount of $505,200.00.
Bids were opened Aprll 25, 1980.
Background
The Clty budgeted for the replacement of malns ln the areas listed below In
FIscal Year 1979-80 ln the amount of $580,000.00. The Englneers Estimate
prior to bid was $734,917.00.
MaIns wlll be located at:
12'1 Mai n 1 n Montana Avenue from Ocean Avenue to Euc 1 i d Court
(provides loop In system)
8" Main ln Arizona Avenue from Llncoln Court to 14th Court
(provldes loop in system and provides better service to S.M. Hospltal)
12" Main ln Manne Street from Main Street to Lincoln Boulevard
(replaces 10")
This main replacement will enhance the ability to provlde fire protectlon,
WIll provide for Increased water demand throughout these areas, and will replace
deteriorated and unllned 8" and 10" dldmeter plpe.
AddItIonal benefits expected will be a decrease in the number of water qua]lty
complalnts and water maIn breaks. Breaks not only waste large amounts of
