SUBJECT. Recommendation to award for a Purchase Order for
Three (3) Monitor Defibrillators
Introduction
This report concerns award for a purchase for three Monitor
Defibrillators in the total amount of $14,246.00 including
applicable sales tax. Funds for this purchase have been
budgeted in account number 01-300-311-000-950.
Background
As a result of Bid #1481 9/18/79, two (2) Monitor Defibrillators
were procured from Medical LIfe Systems, Inc. on purchase
order #42066 dated 10/29/79 @$4,480.00 each plus tax
Medical Life Systems, Inc has offered to extend this same
pricing for the current requirement of three units.
Two of the Defibrillators are replacements
additional requirement.
The other is an
The Monitor Defibrillators are compatible with existing
equipment and will enable staff to standardize and better
interface with county equipment.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award be made to Medical Life
System, Inc in the total amount of $14,246 00, including tax,
as the best bidder.

OF SANTA MONICA WAIVING FURTHER FO~~L BID
PROCEDURE AND ftUTHORIZING DIRECT NEGOTIATION
FOR PURCHASE OF THREE (3) MONITOR DEFIBRILLATO~S
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica Fire Department has a
requirement for three (3) Monitor Defibrillators
~YHEREAS, two (2) were formally bid on bid #1481 9/18/79
and
WHEREAS, Mobile Life Systems was awarded the bid to supply
these two (2) units
~~EREAS' Mobile Life Systems, Inc has offered to extend
to the City the same pricing of $4,480 00 per unit plus tax
for the present three unit requirement.

NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOL\~ AS FOLLOWS;
SECTION 1. That the City Council finds that the requirement
exists to purchase the three (3) Monitor Defibrillators
SECTION 2. That further bid solicitation would cause unnecessary
expense and delay.
SECTION 3. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to excute
a purchase agreement for the equipment.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
