SR-205-003 (23) Purch:DH:RAH: F:\FINANCE\PURCH\STFRPTS\SRBD2823.DOC Council Meeting: January 23, 2001 Santa Monica, California TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: City Staff SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver Two -Ton Pickup 2 Trucks, Bid #2823 Introduction This report recommends award of bid to furnish and deliver two -ton pickup trucks for the 2 Open Space Management Division, Community and Cultural Services Department, in the total amount of $52,692.00, including applicable sales tax. Background The two CNG-powered trucks will be used by Open Space Management personnel for transporting materials and equipment to various park work locations. They will replace a 1989 GMC pickup and a 1989 Chevrolet pickup, which are no longer cost effective to maintain and are part of the Vehicle Replacement Program. In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published November 19 and 24, 2000) in accordance with City specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and read on December 6, 2000. Proposal forms were mailed to thirty-one vendors and notices were advertised in accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Proposal forms requested vendors to quote on six fuel sources, including CNG. Seven proposals were received as follows: - 1 - VENDOR AMOUNT Maurice J. Sopp & Son $44,382.50 (gasoline-powered) Ford West $44,497.25 (gasoline-powered) Golden State Truck Center $49,380.19 (gasoline-powered) Miracle Ford $52,692.00 (CNG-powered) Bob Beaty Ford $53,938.81 (CNG-powered) Villa Ford $56,580.61 (CNG-powered) Midway Ford $58,159.24 (CNG-powered) The bids submitted by Maurice J. Sopp & Son, Ford West and Golden State Truck Center are for gasoline-powered trucks which do not meet the City’s reduced emissions fuel policy. The purchase of two CNG-powered trucks is consistent with the Citys reduced emissions fuel = policy. Staff has evaluated the bid submitted by Miracle Ford and finds that it meets City specifications. Budget/Financial Impact Budget authority for this purchase is in the Capital Improvement Budget account number C54016799.589000, Fleet Vehicle Replacement Program. A@ Recommendation It is recommended that the bids submitted by Maurice J.
