SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid for Asphalt Emulsion.
Bid No. 1638.
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid for Asphalt Emulsion in the
estimated total &~ount of $15,000 including applicable sales tax.
Funds for this purchase have been budgeted in account number
01-500-421-000-414, General Services Department, Street ~ivision.
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to furnish and
deliver SS-14 Asphalt Emulsion in accordance with City specifications,
bids were received and publicly opened and read on July 21, 1981.
Proposal fOTI1S were mailed to twelve potentlal suppliers and
notlces were advertised in accordance with City Charter and Municipal
Code provisions. Only one proposal was received, from Edgington
Oil Co., Inc. 2400 E. Artesia Blvd., Long Beach, California in the
amount of $1.12 per gallon of the specified emulsion.
Reconnnendation
It is recommended that the award be tJade to Edgington Oil
in the total approximate amount of $15,000.00, including
the low'est and best b: r.
