SR-205-003 (21) Purch:DH:RAH:F:\FINANCE\PURCH\STFRPTS\SRBD2813.DOC Council Meeting: January 9, 2001 Santa Monica, California TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: City Staff SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver 20 Rolls of Carpet, Bid #2813 Introduction This report recommends award of bid to furnish and deliver 20 rolls of carpet for the Event Facilities Division, Community & Cultural Services Department, in the total amount of $52,143.25, including applicable sales tax. Background The Civic Auditorium replaces its carpet every three years due to routine wear from staging a variety of events at their location. In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published November 3 and 5, 2000) in accordance with City specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and read on November 13, 2000. Proposal forms were mailed to eight vendors and notices were advertised in accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Two proposals were received as follows: - 1 - VENDOR TOTAL PRICE Continental Flooring Company $52,143.25 Carpet USA $55,267.77 Staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets City specifications. Budget/Financial Impact Budget authority for this purchase is in the Capital Improvement Budget account number C32058501.589000, Civic Auditorium Carpet Replacement. A@ Recommendation It is recommended that the award of Bid #2813 be made to Continental Flooring Company, in the total amount of $52,143.25, including applicable sales tax, as the lowest responsible bidder.
