IntroductLon
ThlS report recommends that the Clty Manager be author~zed to
negotlate an agreement wlth the Santa Monlca Conventlon and
Vlsltors Bureau for promot~onal actlvltles of beneflt to the
Clty.
Background
The Clty and the Bureau have had a prlor agreement WhlCh was ln
effect from November 15, 1982 untll June 30, 1985.
C1ty staff
and Bureau representatLves have met and dlscussed potentlal
amendments to the prevlous agreement.
These dlScuSSlons are nearly concluded and the agreement belng
proposed wlll
be
substantlally the
same
as
the
preVLOus
agreement. The two pr1nclpal modlflcatlons are noted below:
1) The term of the agreement w~ll be for three years wlth
the Clty havlng the opt1on to extend the agreement.
2) The formula for annual Clty contrLbutlon to the Bureau
w~ll be adJusted to more closely track the flow of
tranSlent occupancy tax revenues lnto the Clty.
