SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid for Typewriter Maintenance
Bid No. 1641.
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid for routine typewriter maintenance
and repair at unit rates for the period August I, 1981 through
July 31, 1982. Funds for this purchase have been budgeted in
various accounts in various departments.
Background
In response to publ~shed Notice Inviting Bids to furnish and
deliver typewriter maintenance in accordance with City specifications,
bids were received and publicly opened and read August 20, 1981.
Proposal forms were mailed to twelve typewriter repair facilities
and notices were advertised in accordance with City Charter and
~1unicipal Code provisions. Two responsive proposals were received.
One non-responsive proposal was received and three non-responsive
alternative proposals were offered. The non-responsive bid was
from IB~l Corp. and was higher than the low conforming bid. The
non-responsive alternates were not sufficiently lower than the low
bid meeting specification to warrant further consideration. (See
attached schedule)
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award he made to Culver Office Products
Inc., Culver City, CA in unit amounts as bid for approximately
200 typewriters, as the lowest and best bidder.
