SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid for 1%" Water Meters for
City Water Division. Bid No. 1611
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid for 1750 l~" loJater Meters
in the total amount of $285,670.00 including applicable sales
tax. Funds for this purchase have been budgeted in account
number 25-500-671-000-401.
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to furnish and
deliver 1750 l~" loJater Meters in accordance with City specifications,
(t~ese meters are for use in the Water Division's routine re-
placement progra~. Proposal forms were mailed to fifteen vendors and
notices were advertised in accordance with City Charter and Municipal
Code provisions. Three proposals were received.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award be made to Neptune Water Meter
Cu. in the total amount of $285,670.00, including tax, as the
lowest and best bidder.

As a result of the bi d openi ng for 1 1/2" meters on 6-23-81, the
following recommendatlon is being submitted for your approval.
The Bids were as follows:

Neptune 154.00 each 25.00 each

* Rockwell does not meet our specifications as follows:

** Badger did not bid. They clalmed they never received bid invitation.
We recommend Neptune Meter Company be awarded Item No.1 on Bld No. 1611.
The Trident T-8 meter meets our specifications and has been approved
for our use.
We also recommend that Item No. 2 not be awarded. Funds are not now
available and the manpower situatlon is such that we would not be
capable of changing 3,500 meters withln the remainder of the year.
Also storage area is not available for this amount of meters.
