SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid for Four Refuse Bodies
Bid No. 1659
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid for four rear-loading refuse
bodies in the total amount of $84,906.00 including applicable
sales tax. Funds for this purchase have been budgeted in
account number 27-500-44l-000-801B (Refuse Collection).
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to furnish and
deliver four rear-loading refuse bodies in accordance with City
specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and
read on August 27, 1981. Proposal forms were mailed to nine
manufacturers and notices were advertised in accordance with
City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Two proposals were
received as noted on the attached schedule.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award be made to Peabody Solid Waste
Management, Inc., Pacoima, Ca. in the total amount of
$84,906.00, including tax, as the lowest and best bidder.
