SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid for a Street Sweeper.
Bid No. 1667
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid for a street sweeper in the
total amount of $69.933.50 including applicable sales tax
Funds for this purchase have been budgeted in account number
01-500-442-000-801 (Street Maintenance)
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to furnish and
deliver one new four cubic yard capacity street sweeper in
accordance with City specifications, bids were received and
publicly opened and read on September 29, 1981. Proposal forms
were mailed to eleven vendors and notices were advertised in
accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Two
proposals were received as follows
California Truck Equipment $62,900.00
Nixon-Egli Equipment $65,975.00
The bid by California Truck Equipment does not meet the City's
specifications because the sweeper offered is 3 cubic yard
capacity rather than the specified 4 cubic yards.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award be made to Nixon-Egli Equipment
Co., Santa Fe Springs, California, in the total amount of
$69,933.50, including tax, as the lowest and best bidder.
