SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver Two Intermediate
Sedans, Bid #2812
Introduction
This report recommends award of bid to furnish and deliver two intermediate sedans for the
Transportation Management Division, Planning & Community Development Department and
the City Attorney’s Office, in the total amount of $39,114.28, including applicable sales tax.
Background
One CNG-powered sedan will be used by Transportation Management personnel for
transporting staff, and the other sedan will be used by City Attorney personnel to serve
subpoenas and other legal documents, locate and interview witness, and conduct other
prosecutorial work. They will replace a 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass and a 1991 Chevrolet
Caprice, which are no longer cost effective to maintain and are part of the Vehicle
Replacement Program.
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published November 3 and 5, 2000) in
accordance with City specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and read on
November 10, 2000. Proposal forms were mailed to thirty-nine vendors and notices were
advertised in accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Proposal forms
requested vendors for quotations on six fuel sources, including CNG. Three proposals were

The purchase of these two CNG-powered sedans is consistent with the Citys reduced

emissions fuel policy. Staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets City
specifications.
Budget/Financial Impact
Budget authority for this purchase is in the Capital Improvement Budget account numbers
C54016700.589000 and C54016701.589000, Fleet Vehicle Replacement Program;

$19,557.14 being charged to each account.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid # 2812 be made to Scott Robinson Honda in the
amount of $39,114.28, including applicable sales tax, as the lowest responsible bidder.
