Recommendation to Award Bid for Propane Conversion of
Eighteen City Vehicles. Bid No. 1692
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid for converting eighteen
pieces of City equipment from gasoline fuel power to optional
gasoline or propane fuel power in the total amount of $13,600 38
including applicable sales tax. Funds for this purchase have
been budgeted in account number 01-500-461-000-292 (Mechanical
Maintenance) .
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bid:, to furnish labor
and materials to convert eighteen vehicles to propane use in
accordance wi~h City specificat~on, bids were received and
publicly opened and read on October 20. 1981. Pruposa1 forms
were mailed to seven known converting specialists and notices
were advertised i~ a~co dance with City Charter and Munic~pal
Code provisions. Two proposals were received as follows

SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid for Air Compressor and
Air Tools for the Water Department. Bid No. 1674
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid for an air compressor and air
tools in the total amount of $12,697.74 including applicable
sales tax. Funds for this purchase have been budgeted in
account number 25-500-671-000-805 (Water Division).
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting B~ds to furnish and
deliver an air compressor and airpowered tools ~n accordance
with City specifications, bids were received and publicly
opened and read on October 22, 1981. Proposal forms were
mailed to twelve dealers and notices were advertised in
accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions.
Two proposals were received. However, the proposal by Sullair
is incomplete in that it does not include an air powered
grinding tool as specified. The cost of purchasing this
omitted tool would make Sul1air the high bid. Proposals
from the two responding firms were:
Su1lair of Los Angeles $12,418.30 (incomplete)
Ingersoll-Rand Equipment $12,697.74 (as specified)
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award be made to Ingersoll-Rand
Equipment Corporation,Pico Rivera, California in the total
amount of $12.697.74, including tax, as the lowest and
best bidder.
