Miscellaneous Trash Bin Parts, Bid #2425
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver
miscellaneous trash bin parts at specified unit prices, plus
applicable sales tax.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published June 15
and 16, 1992) to furnish and deliver miscellaneous trash bin
parts in accordance with City specifications, bids were received
and publicly opened and read on June 29, 1992. Proposal forms
were mailed to two vendors and notices were advertised in
accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Two
proposals were received as follows:

The City currently has approximately 4,000 metal refuse
containers in circulation. These miscellaneous trash bin parts
will be used to repair/refurbish those containers which are
repairable on an on-going basis.
cubic container is low bidder on six of the eleven items needed.
It is not economically feasible to split the bid. Based on the
average monthly repairs (approximately 10 each) on items 6, 7,
9-11, the price difference is minimal.
These items are not
repaired as frequently as the other items listed.
staff has evaluated the bids and finds that Cubic container is
best bidder and meets city specifications.

BUdget/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1992/93 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the Solid Waste Management Division, General Services
Department, account number 27-500-441-00000-4427-00000.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2425 be made to Cubic
Container at specified unit prices, plus applicable tax, as the
best bidder.
