Electric Motor Operators,
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver
butterfly valves with electric motor operators for the Water
Division, General Services Department, at specified unit prices,
plus applicable sales tax.
Background
In response to pUblished Notices Inviting Bids (published May 25
and 26, 1992) to furnish and deliver butterfly valves with
electric motor operators in accordance with city specifications,
bids were received and publicly opened and read on June 3, 1992.
proposal forms were mailed to ten vendors and notices were
advertised in accordance with city Charter and Municipal Code
provisions. Seven proposals were received as follows:

These valves will be used to replace twenty year old valves on
the softening plant backwash system. Repair parts are no longer
available and the current valves leak and are constantly failing.
staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets City
specifications.
Budget/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1992/93 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the Water Division, General service Department, account number
25-500-671-00000-8801-00000.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2414 be made to Valve
Systems & Controls at specified unit prices, plus applicable
sales tax, as the lowest and best bidder.
