SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver
Receptacles, Box switch/outlet, switches, Transformers,
Wires and Miscellaneous Electrical Supplies, Bid #2171
INTRODUCTION
This report concerns award of bid to furnlsh and deliver recep-
tacles, box switch/outlet, switches, transformers, wires and
miscellaneous electrical supplies for a one-year period at
specified unit prices plus applicable sales tax.
BACKGROUND
In response to published Notices Invit1ng Bids (published June 8
and 9, 1988) to furnish and deliver receptacles, box switch/
outlet,
switches,
and
miscellaneous
wires
transformers,
electrical supplies in accordance with City specifications, bids
were received and publicly opened and read on June 23, 1988.
Proposal forms were mailed to seventeen vendors and notices were
advertised in accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code
provisions. Five proposals were received as follows:

The items covered by this bid include various types and sizes of
receptacles, box switch/ outlet, switches, transformers, wires
and miscellaneous electrical supplies.
Upon request from the
user departments these items will be dispensed.
Staff has
evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets City specifica-
tions.
BUDGETARY/FINANCIAL IMPACT
Fiscal Year 1988/89 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the maintenance accounts of various departments.
As the
materials are drawn out of inventory, they will be expensed
against available FY 1988/89 appropriation authority.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2171 be made to Westwood
Wholesale Electric Co. at specified unit prices plus tax, as the
lowest and best bidder.
