SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver
Polyethylene Trash Bags, Bid #2164
INTRODUCTION
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver
polyethylene trash bags for a one-year period at specified unit
prices, plus applicable sales tax.
BACKGROUND
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published
December 9 and 10, 1987) to furnish and deliver polyethylene
trash bags in accordance with City specifications, bids were
received and publicly opened and read on December 22, 1987.
Proposal forms were mailed to twelve vendors and notices were
advertised in accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code
provisions. Five proposals were received as follows:

staff has evaluated the quality of the polyethylene trash bags
and finds that the low bid meets City specifications.
BUDGETARY/FINANCIAL IMPACT
Fiscal Year 1987/88 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the maintenance accounts of various departments.
As the
materials are drawn out of inventory, they will be expensed
against available FY 1987/88 appropriation authority.
For the
period July 1, 1988, through December 31, 1988, appropriation
authority will be as set forth in the FY 1988/89 budget.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2164 be made to Gale
Supply Co. at specified unit prices, plus applicable tax, as the
lowest and best bidder.
