Recommendation to Award a Contract for New Roof at the
Joslyn Park Community Building.
Introduction
This report requests that the city Council award a contract
to replace the roof at the Joslyn Park Community Building to
Nelson Roof & Painting Inc., the lowest responsible bidder, in
the amount of $28,777.00.
Background
Replacement of the Joslyn Park Community Building roof was
approved for FY 1987-88. Plans and specifications for the roof
replacement were prepared by the City Engineer's Office.
A notice inviting bids was published on February 22 and 23,
1988 in the Evening Outlook and sent to four construction
journals and seven minority contracting associations.
Bidding packages were issued to nine contractors.
Eight
bids were received, opened and read publicly on April 5, 1988,
commencing at 3:00 p.m. by the Deputy City Clerk. The bidders
and their bids were as follows:

Recommendations
It is recommended that the City Council:
1. Award a contract for the replacement of the Joslyn
Park Community Building roof to Nelson Roof &
Painting, Inc., the lowest responsible bidder, in the
amount of $28,777.00; and
2. Authorize the City Engineer to issue any necessary
Change Orders to complete the work in conformance with
the Administrative Instructions.
