SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver
Miscellaneous Lumber and Lumber Supplies, Bid #2202
INTRODUCTION
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver
miscellaneous lumber and lumber supplies at specified unit
prices, plus applicable sales tax.
BACKGROUND
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published
December 6 and 7, 1988) to furnish and deliver miscellaneous
lumber and lumber supplies in accordance with city specifica-
tions, bids were received and publicly opened and read on
December 20, 1988.
Proposal forms were mailed to five vendors
and notices were advertised In accordance with city Charter and
Municipal Code provisions.
Two proposals were received as

The items covered by this bid include various sizes and grades of
plywood, masonite, drywall and standard/better grade lumber.
These items will be stocked and dispersed to various operating
departments upon request.
Staff has evaluated the low bid from
Southland Lumber & Supply Co., Inc. and finds it meets city
specifications.
BUDGETARY/FINANCIAL IMPACT
Fiscal Year 1988/89 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the maintenance accounts of various departments.
As the
materials are drawn out of inventory, they will be expensed
against available FY 1988/89 appropriation authority.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2202 be made to
Southland Lumber & Supply Co., Inc. at specified unit prices,
plus applicable tax, as the lowest and best bidder.
