SR 02-14-1989 6E . . 0E FEB 1 4 1919 PURCH:EOB:PW:klc Council Meeting: February 14, 1989 Santa Monica, California .z P5"-00:3 TO: Mayor and city Council FROM: City Staff SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver Trash Liners, Bid #2206 INTRODUCTION This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver trash liners for the period April 1, 1989, through June 30, 1990, at specified unit prices, plus applicable sales tax. BACKGROUND In response to pUblished Notices Inviting B1ds (published January 17 and 18, 1989) to furnish and deliver trash liners in accordance with City specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and read on January 26, 1989. Proposal forms were mailed to twelve vendors and notices were advertised in accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Three proposals were received as follows: Cost of a representative array of trash liners - Zellerback Co. $31,470.22 WaxiejKleen1ine Corp. (WMBE) $33,670.51 penmar Enterprises $34,707.28 - 1 - bE F; 1 4 19B! .' . . staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets city specifications. BUDGETARY/FINANCIAL IMPACT Fiscal Year 1988/89 appropriation authority for this purchase is in the maintenance accounts of various departments. As the materials are drawn out of inventory, they will be expensed against available FY 1988/89 appropriation authority. For the period July 1, 1989, through June 30, 1990, appropriation authority will be as set forth in the FY 1989/90 budget. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the award of Bid #2206 be made to Zellerbach Co. at specified unit prices, plus applicable tax, as the lowest and best bidder. Prepared By: E. O.
