SUBJECT: Recommendation to Furnish and Deliver New and Unused
Reyco Brake Drums, Bid #2212
INTRODUCTION
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver new and
unused brake drums for the Transportation Department, at
specified unit prices, plus applicable sales tax.
BACKGROUND
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published
February 14 and 15, 1989) to furnish and deliver new and unused
brake drums in accordance with city specifications, bids were
received and publicly opened and read on February 28, 1989.
Proposal forms were mailed to five vendors and notices were
advertised in accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code
provisions. Two proposals were received as follows:

The bid consists of a variety of Reyco front and rear brake drums
for GMC, AMG and F1xible transit coaches.
staff has evaluated
the low bid and finds that it meets city specifications.
BUDGETARY/FINANCIAL IMPACT
As the materials are drawn out of inventory they will be expensed
against available FY 1988/89 appropriation authority.
For the
period July 1, 1989, through February 28, 1990, appropriation
authority will be as set forth in the FY 1989/90 budget.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2212 be made to Flxible
corporation at specified unit prices, plus applicable sales tax,
as the lowest and best bidder.
