SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver
Ductile Iron Bell and Spigot Pipe, Bid #2236
INTRODUCTION
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver ductile
iron bell and spigot pipe for the Water Divis1on, General
Services Department, for a one-year period, at specified unit
prices, plus applicable sales tax.
BACKGROUND
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published June 3
and 5, 1989) to furn1sh and deliver ductile ~ron bell and spigot
pipe In accordance with city specifications, bids were received
and pUblicly opened and read on June 13, 1989. Proposal forms
were mailed to three vendors and notices were advertised in
accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provlsions. Two
proposals were received as follows:

staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that :it meets City
specifications
BUDGETARY/FINANCIAL IMPACT
Fiscal Year 1989/90 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the Water Division, General services Department, maintenance
account. As the materials are drawn out of inventory, they will
be expensed against available FY 1989/90 appropriation authority.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2236 be made to pacific
states Cast Iron Pipe company at specified unit prices plus
applicable tax, as the lowest and best bidder.
