SUBJECT: Recolllll\endation to Award Bid to Provide Brake service
and Supplies for Passenger Cars and Light or Heavy
Trucks, Bid #2242
INTRODUCTION
This report concerns award of bid to provide brake service and
suppl ies for passenger cars and I ight or heavy trucks for the
Fleet Management Division, General Services Department, at
specified manufacturer discounts and hourly labor rate, plus
applicable sales tax, including two one-year renewal options.
BACKGROUND
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published
August 14 and 15, 1989) to provide brake service and supplies for
passenger cars and light or heavy trucks in accordance with City
specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and read
on August 29, 1989. Proposal forms were mailed to four vendors
and notices were advertised in accordance with City Charter and
Municipal Code provisions.

II. SUPPLIES FOR HEAVY TRUCK:
A. Air Diaphram Brake Chambers 25%-40% 10%
B. Exchange Relined Brake Shoes 30%-50% 10%
C. Wheel seals 25%-40% 10%
D. Hourly Labor Rate (Repairs) $30.00 $42.50
Staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets city
specifications.
BUDGETARY/FINANCIAL IMPACT
Fiscal Year 1989/90 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the Fleet Management Division, General services Department,
account number 01-500-461-00000-2292-00000.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2242 be made to Delmer's
precision Brake Shop at specified manufacturer discounts and
hourly labor rate, plus applicable sales tax, including two
one-year renewal options, as the lowest and best bidder.
