This body is purchased as a part of the City's on-going refuse
vehicle replacement program. The City specifications were
designed to provide the City with efficient, long lasting, low
maintenance vehicles. The body specifications were compiled by a
special research team that physically observed several
municipalities. The final factors were ease of operation,
efficient operation, durability of equipment, and ease of
maintenance.
The body was designed to ensure that neither an operator or a
mechanic is required to enter any part of the contaminated
garbage area of the body to perform maintenance functions. This
eliminates a health and safety problem that is common to most
refuse collection vehicles.
The bid submitted by Ray Gaskin service does not meet body
specifications. staff has evaluated the bid submitted by Refuse
Trucks, Inc. and finds that it meets City specifications.
