A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
ESTABLISHING LICENSE RATES FOR COMMUNITY EVENTS TO BE HELD
ON THE BEACH AND THE BEACH PARKING LOTS
WHEREAS, Santa Monica Municipal Code Section 4.68.080 authorizes the City
Council to establish filing fees, neighborhood notification fees, and other fees and
charges for City services and costs incurred in connection with community
events; and
WHEREAS, a Community Event Permit is required for activities on City-owned,
controlled or maintained properties under specified conditions; and
WHEREAS, the Santa Monica State beach and the north beach (1550) and
south beach (2030 and 2600) parking lots have been designated as community
event sites; and
WHEREAS, Administrative Instruction Number II-4-4 states that license rates
may be charged for parking lot event sites based on market rates and that
alternative use charges may be negotiated for large commercial events at public
parking lot for purposes of generating more City revenue,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The following license rates for use of the Santa Monica State
Beach, the north beach (1550) and south beach (2030 and 2600) parking lots are
hereby established:
1550 PCH Lot
1/8 of the lot = $2,000 per day
¼ of the lot = $4,000 per day
½ of the lot = $8,000 per day
Reserved Parking in 1550 PCH Lot
$20.00 per reserved space from October through March
$22.00 per reserved space in April and October
$24.00 per reserved space from May through September

This rate is based upon a charge of three times the daily parking rate (industry
standard) plus labor costs of roping off and posting spaces.
2030 and 2600 Barnard Way Lot
1/6 of the lot = $2,000 per day
1/3 of the lot = $4,000 per day
Reserved Parking in 2030 and 2600 Barnard Way Lots
$15.00 per reserved space year round
Santa Monica State Beach
Volleyball tournament use fee - $500 per day
SECTION 2. All license rates established by this Resolution shall be reviewed
on July 1 of each fiscal year and administratively revised to ensure that they are
at market rate and consistent with similar beach venues.
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution, and henceforth and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
