Th1S report reco~ends that Council aporopr1ate $19.600 to maintaln the
n01se mon1torlnq equlpment at Santa ~onica Alroort for the Derlod of
October. 1981 to September. 1982.
Background
Alrport N01se ~on1tor1ng equipment 1S currently 1nstalled at Santa Monlca
A1rport to measure the dec1ble level of alrcraft takeoffs. The C1ty has
an agreement with the flrm of Bolt. Beranek and ~ewman. Inc. for callbratlon.
malntenance, and emerqency service of the N01se Monltor1no System.
Extens10n of the eXlstlng ma1ntenance agree~ent will be effectlve fron
October 1981 through September 1982.
Monles ~ere not approoriated In the FY 81-82 budget to cover the cost of
extendlng the agreement since lt was unclear at the ti~e. whether nOlse
monltor1ng would cont1nue. However, the Clty Councll and Airoort Co~misslon
have since lnd1cated a desire to l11a1nta1n a ~on1torlng system.
Recomll1endatlon
It 1S reco~mended that Council aporopr1ate $19.600 from the Alrport Fund to
extend the agreement wlth Bolt. Beranek and New~an, Inc., for l11alntenance of
the Santa Mon1ca Alrport N01se ~onitorlng Equ1pment for the period of October.
1981, through September. 1982.
