IntroductlOn
This report recommends that the Council authorize the transfer of $14,320.00
from the 1978-79 budget Salary account to the 1978-79 Vehlcle Replacement
account to authorize the purchase of a tree root cutting macn1ne.
Background
ThlS equipment is vitally needed for the removal of tree roots in connection
with our sidewalk replacement program. This will reduce the need for replace-
ment of much of the sidewalk being replaced due to tree root damage.
Twenty-flve thousand dollars would be a conservat1ve estlmate of the yearly
damage caused by tree root growth.
Recommendation
It 1S recommended that the Councll authorize the transfer of $14,320.00 from
the funds in the 1978-79 Salary account. 01-500-421-000-100, to the 1978-79
Vehicle Replacement account. 01-500-421-000-950. and that these monles be
authorized for the use of purchasing a tree root cutting machlne.
