Request of Mayor Genser and Mayor Pro Tempore Abdo to consider a
joint resolution of the westside Summit cities pertaining to
state budget balancing proposals.

A JOINT RESOLUTION OF
THE CITIES OF THE WESTS IDE SUMMIT
PERTAINING TO STATE BUDGET BALANCING PROPOSALS
WHEREAS, the cities of the westside Summit are greatly
concerned about proposals to balance the State's budget by
shifting traditional city revenues to schools and counties and;
WHEREAS, all cities of the westside Summit have dealt
with recesssionary times by cutting their own budgets and raising
local fees and taxes: and
WHEREAS, the cities uniformly believe that the proposed
revenue shifts will not only adversely affect their citizens, but
also the citizens of California in general;
NOW THEREFORE,
the City of Santa Monica resolves as
follows:
SECTION 1. The cities of the Wests ide Summit uniformly
urge the Governor and State Legislators to reject proposals which
reduce city revenues and support those proposals that require all
levels of government to take those actions that the cities have
taken to balance their budgets.
SECTION 2. The cities of the Westside summit call upon
the Governor and state Legislators to join with the elected
representatives of the cities to develop a comprehensive plan for
the structure and funding of California government for the
future.

SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall
be in full force and effect.
