SUBJECT' Resolution Amending the Executive Pay Plan
INTRODUCTION
ThIS report requests that Council adopt the attached Resolution amendmg the
ExecutIve Pay Plan
BACKGROUND
The Executive Pay Plan (EPP) IS being amended to provide for a cost of lIving
adjustment for FY98-99 and to revise the eXisting medical Insurance provIsions
BUDGET/FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funds are already Included In the budget for FY98-99 to cover any costs associated
with this agreement

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
AMENDING THE EXECUTIVE PAY PLAN
WHEREAS, the Executive Pay Plan resolution adopted by ResolutIOn No. 8283
(CCS) has been In effect SIX years and amended by Resolution No 8470 (CCS),
Resolution No. 8835 (CCS), Resolution No. 8978 (CCS), Resolution No. 9105 (CCS);
and Resolution No 9139 (CCS) / and
WHEREAS, certain of Its provIsions require modification to update compensation
and other terms and conditions of employment;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS
SECTION 1. The City Council does hereby modify the eXisting Executive Pay
Plan resolution which defines the wages, benefits and conditions of employment of the
City's Department Heads and those members of the Professional Staff of the City
Manager's Office who choose to represent themselves IndiVidually under Ordinance
No 801 (CCS)
SECTION 2 The Executive Pay Plan adopted by Resolution No 8283 (CCSI, as
amended by ResolutIOn No 8470 (CCS), ResolutIon No. 8835 (eeS), Resolution No.
8978 (Ces), Resolution No 9105 leeSL Resolution No 9139 (CeS) and Resolution
No 9212 (CCS), IS re-adopted and Incorporated herein by this reference except as to
Sections Band M, which are amended to read as follows
B July 1998 Wage Adjustments. Effective July 1, 1998, each step of the
salary ranges established for positions covered herein shall be Increased by three
percent (3%).
M. Retiree Medical Insurance A participant In the ExecutIve Pay Plan who
retires from the City of Santa Monica and whose age upon retirement, when added to
the participant's years of service with public agencies, equals or exceeds 70, and who
has also completed at least fIve (5) years of servIce with the City of Santa MOnica,
shall be entitled to a City-paid medical Insurance plan upon retirement. For eligible
retirees who are between ages 65 and 70, that plan shall be a Medicare-supplement
plan
The City shall pay the premiums for the retiree only. Payments shall cease when the
retiree reaches age 70.
SECTION 3 ThiS Resolution shall go Into effect as of July 1, 1998 and shall
remam In effect until modified or replaced by a future Resolution adopted by City
Council
SECTION 4 The City Clerk shall certify as to the adoption of this Resolution and
thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be In full force and effect
