SR-12-A (53)~D~ ~ 9336 C~.f N ~V 1 019~ CCS HS BS JR sa1e1833 tas No~ember 1 p, 199$ Santa Monica, California r TO Mayor and City Co~ncil FROM City Staff SUBJECT Resoiution and Authorization to Sell the City-Owned Property Located at 1833 18th Street, Santa Monica INTRODUCTION This re~ort recommends that Councd 1) adopt the attached resolut~on declanng the City- owned property at 1833 1 Sth S#reet °no longer needed for purpos~ acquired nar for any other public purpase, " 2) author~ze staff to proceed with the safe of the property in compl~ance with SMMC 2 24 110 and applicable state and federal regulations, and 3} authonze stafF to negotiate and execute all necessary documents #o complete the sale BACKG ROU N D In 1985, the City purchased the property located at 1833 18th Street for $155,143 using federal Communfty Development Bfack Grant (CDBG} funds For 10 years the property was leased to Ocean Park Corr~munity Center (OPCC) far operation as a youth shelter, known as Stepp~ng Stone In July of 1995, OPCC notified the City tF~at they no longer needed the property and ceased Stepping S~ane operations Tha property, currently zoned R3, consrsts of a three-bedroom single-family residence with two single units located in t~e back In August of 1998, an appraisal was completed and the ~alue of the property was estimated at $354,000 N01~ 10~ DISCUSSION On June 25, 1996, upon the adoption of the FY 1996-97 budget, Council directed staff to 1) sell the property while prioritizing its continued use far a socia~ service purpose, and 2) dedicate re~enues generatec!
