Bac_kground The Crescent Bay Stalrway is located in Crescent Bay Park leading frcm Ocean Ave. to Crescent Bay Park. Crescent Bay Park is located betweEn Bay and B1cknell Streets and adjacent to the beach parklng lot. This proJect 1S undertaken to repa1r badly deteriorated stairs. Both the Re crea t ion & Parks COffirm s s i on and the Ard ltE ctu ra 1 ReVl ew Board ha ve ap~lroved the plans a~d specifications. The project w1ll consist of putting new concrete stairs on top of the Old stalrs ard constructing rEst platforms. There will not be any openlng between the new and old stalrs. Unllke the 4th Street stalrway project, thlS sta1rway 1S not an attractlve Jogging path nor is any acquisition of land rEquired. Recommendatlon Staff recommends Council approv€ the plans and spec1ficatlo~s and author1ze the cell for b1d~ to complete the proJect. Background The Clty Council author 1 zed the purchase of certaln playground equlp- ment to be lnstalled at varlOUS Santa Monlca beach playground locatlons when they adopted the 1980-81 Flsca1 Budget. Staff has prepared slte locatlon plans for the areas where they recom- mend the equlpment be installed. The plans are avallab1e In the Mayor and Cou~cll offlce for your reVlew prlor to the Councll meetlng. The plans were approved by the Recreatlon and Parks COmID1SS10n at thelr meetlng of January 15, 1981, and by the Archltectural Review Board at thelr meetlng of February 4, 1981. After Clty Councll approval the Clty must obtaln a permlt from the Coastal CommlSSlon. Thelr reVlew and approval lS necessary prlor to any installat1on.
